3D Dot Game Heroes is an RPG game for the Playstation 3 which is due out on November 5th in Japan. This title which is designed by From Software takes place in a classic retro gaming RPG kingdom whose king declares that his world should be in 3D to celebrate the defeat of a demon lord. What I love about this title is that it pays tribute to old school videogames while breaking the third wall of the medium by incorporating the medium of the medium into the plot of the game: Here are some

I think console companies (and I’m sure they already know this) can’t downplay the role that game titles play in deciding which game console to go with. Back when I was youngun we only had two systems, Sega and Nintendo and it seemed that Sega had a huge foot hold here in Australia, just mention Alex Kidd here and people of a certain age bracket (except my wife) will glaze over with happy memories and then want to Rock Paper Scissors with you. So I think that it wasn’t really much of a decisi

The big news around the Internet today is that it is rumoured that Microsoft are looking at bringing a PlayStation Home like interface to the Xbox 360. The rumour has sprouted from a survey being conducted at the moment which amongst other things asks people to choose a name for a classic gaming space with names such as AvatArcade, RetroCade, Games Room and the all dominating Tower of ROM being offered. The idea of a PS Home hybrid being shoe horned into the Xbox 360 horrifies me, PS Ho

Looks like Microsoft might be following in the footsteps of PlayStation Home, with a recently leaked survey suggesting that a virtual Avatar arcade is on the way to the Xbox 360 (via Joystiq ). As you might have guessed, it would be like Home's arcade spaces, only with Avatars. Names that are being tossed around include "Game Room," "RetroCade," "Tower of ROM" and "Classics Live." If the screenshots are any indication, we can expect plenty of classic Atari arcade games in this "Tower of ROM,"

Viel nerdiger gehts n

The ever increasingly powerful gaming consoles such as the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 have given gamers the ability of near photorealistic games that truly place you in the action. Some games are so graphically intense and beautiful, you may have to at times pinch yourself to make sure you really aren’t in the game. Games have come quite a ways from their humble days not so long ago when the bleeding edge of gaming was measured in bits. While modern games and all of the graphical eye candy ar

Andrew Oliver is CEO of the UK's Blitz Games, developer of the world's first fully stereoscopic 3D game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Most people tend to see 3D as a bit tacky. A bit '60s. A bit faddy. Actually the first 3D film came out in 1922, and the technology is far from new. And yes, there was a resurgence (of a sort) in the '50s and '60s but most people are simply unaware of the recent phenomenal improvements in 3D technology. by Rob Cole The Nintendo Wii has a variety of offerings that provide users with action-packed fun, anytime – however, there are some ways to increase the features of your console to make it even more of an entertainment hub for the family: the answer lying in a piece of software which is known as the Homebrew Installer.
