I am a big fan of people with way more time to play than I have who take things and turn them into things you might not expect. A guy named James Ian Killinger has taken a Sega Saturn flight controller and hacked the controller into a transforming bug-like device. I don’t even recall the Sega Saturn; much less have the ability to pull off this cool transformation. The finished “space bug” as Killinger calls it uses all of the joysticks original components and three extra screws. If I

Haynes recently sent me their latest manual for review. When people think of Haynes in the UK, it’s normally car manuals that come to mind. In this case we are actually reviewing “The Video Gaming Manual” which is described as the essential guide to modern and retro gaming platforms. On the cover of the manual are a bunch of old computers and consoles ranging from a ZX Spectrum, to a Sega Master System, on to a Game Cube and then to a Playstation 3. The book starts off describing what video ga

by Larry Moon Gaming console wars have been going on for quite a long time, weather it was Texas Instruments Vs Atari, Nintendo Vs Sega, and Xbox Vs Playstation 2. However a new breed of consoles have started when Microsoft came out with the Xbox 360 taking the next step forward in gaming. This console was said to be a step above anything anyone had seen with the Playstation 2, Nintendo GameCube, or even the regular Xbox. The Xbox 360 gained all the attention for a year until Sony and Ninten

Guest writer Gerard Hetman remembers Super Monaco GP. Produced by Sega for the Genesis/Mega Drive platform, Super Monaco GP was released in 1990 after being styled on an arcade–based game of the same name. With two modes of play, an awesome soundtrack, and many lifel

I love video games especially the older “retro” ones from my youth. I started playing games on an Atari 2600 but did not become addicted until the Nintendo Entertainment System. The NES was great to me in middle school and the start of high school, but in the early 90’s I moved to “the next level.” The SEGA Genesis was released 20 years ago today in the US and while I was not one of the first to have the system, it still goes down in the record books as the system I put the most time into.
