Despite word from a few European retailers that Sony's download-only handheld, the PSP Go, won't be sold in their stores , the company's UK product manager isn't afraid of poor sales. Even with no ability to read physical media (read as: nothing for retail to sell other than the console), and a £224.99 price point ($362.07 -- seriously ), Sony's Claire Blackhouse says retailers are happy to have the new console in their stores. "We were very aware of concerns when we went into it and I actuall

In one of the better announcement posts we’ve seen, the Dropbox Blog let us know that the Dropbox iPhone app is now out and ready for free download (warning: iTunes link). We wrote about Dropbox in our 10 free social apps for the Mac feature recently (it’s also available for Windows and Linux), and we’re fans of the service for its easy and convenient cross-platform cloud storage and sharing capabilities. Now you can tap into your Dropbox account from your iPhone as well. It’s not

We know that there are iPhone accessories which can be controlled by apps , but what happens when you plug one in without having the corresponding app? Turns out it'll trigger a download prompt. Choosing to download the app at the prompt will lead users to a brand new " For This Accessory " page in the App Store from which they can select the app they need. We've only got Griffin's iTrip accessory and app as an example for now, but it seems like this is showing some great third-party accessor

The latest version of the WebOS was released today, with some minor improvements to the bluetooth, email, and the calendar. They still haven’t worked out that pesky iTunes problem though. As far as updates go, this one isn’t terribly exciting. Palm added support to phone downloads from the Amazon music store (you used to have to use WiFi), backed up your bookmarks to your profile (so you won’t lose them if something bad happens), added a location feature to the calendar function, and added the

When it comes to big numbers, Apple is never shy. And they’ve got every reason to be proud about their App Store figures; before the iPhone, smartphone manufacturers cared little about third party applications; now, they’re a huge market . And Apple’s App Store just hit another important milestone: 2 billion downloaded apps . Here’s some more numbers for you: over 50 million iPhone and iPod touch users can now choose between more than 85,000 apps, created by over 125,000 developers. Of cours

Filed under: Utilities , Macintosh , Productivity When you're working with a bunch of different files on a Mac, it can be a pain to remember where each one of them saved, where your downloads ended up, and what you've recently opened. Blasted puts all your recent files right in the menubar, making it extremely easy to find what you were just working on. It's hard to believe there's nothing like Blasted built into OS X. You can add various recent items to your Dock with a quick Termin

Developers these days are doing a lot to incentivize those new game purchases over their used counterparts, and Madden 10 is no exception. Those who purchased the game were supposed to receive a downloadable code for the game's "Online Franchise Mode," though reportedly, those in "regions outside of North America," specifically Australia, the UK and "other regions" are getting copies with a missing DLC code. Panic broke out at EA's forums over the situation, but EA Sports told Joystiq thi

Firefox 3.5 : Weave, Mozilla's add-on to synchronize bookmarks, passwords, and now preferences and automatic logins across Firefox browsers, updated to a 0.4 beta, just in time for the release of 3.5—which could happen tomorrow, by the way. We've previously covered Weave's major release , albeit still as an experimental product, and found ourselves intrigued at its plans to provide automatic web site logins . This release includes those automatic logins and OpenID support, for sites that sup
