USB Loader GX not loading some games

I followed this guide HERE and used USB Loader GX for a couple of months without any problem. I played both Mario Kart and Mario Galaxy with no problem.

Then I got Smash Bros. and couldn't load it onto my HDD, so I followed this guide HERE.

Now I can't play Mario Kart or Mario Galaxy. I'm guessing I messed something up an IOS that is particular to Mario Kart or Mario Galaxy.

Can anyone help me?

Hi I've currently been following this guide:

So far everything has been going fine without a hitch but I'm stuck at step 4. I have loaded WAD Manager v1.4 through HBC and navigated to the SD Card/WAD/IOS60-patched.wad. I definately have over 250 clocks free of memory on my Wii and the SD Card.

I don't understand what he means by "Before you update to 4.1 make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick, install IOS60-patched first with Wad Manager *using IOS249*"

How do i check that it is IOS249???

Anyway I still continued to run IOS60-patched and it got to this line:

"Installing Ticket ERROR (ret= -2011)"

Now I'm not sure whether to continue the guide and move onto run "Fireware Updated 4.1" even though the guide says "Warning - If you don't install the patched IOS60 first you will brick!"

PLEASE HELP ME, WIIHACKS!

Also I just attempted to install "CoverFloader-Forwarder-splash.wad" via WAD Manager v1.4 and I also got the exact same error. Also by the way my currently System Menu version is 3.4E.

Hey everyone this is my first post so let me tell you about my Wii Abit
Its a 4.2U(came with this from store) and I have modded it with

I have currently got USB Loader GX or something i forgot to load my games from my External HDD.. I have partitioned the HDD to FAT32(50GB) and the other format W something for the rest of the games

I want to use the FAT32 for Emulation games

From my understanding it is possible to put Emulators on the USB HDD, so i need to know how to do this.
Is it just like an SD Card where i keep the same file format, and the HBC will automatically read it?
What emulators work from USB?

and from my understanding only Gamecube works from SD or DVD, but i have one of those new dvd drives so dvd will not work. Can i put the gamecube files on SD, and the roms on the USB HDD?? my sd is only 2gb so the sd can only hold like 1 or 2 roms

Some info about my situation:

Ok, so I've done what the famous 3.1-4.1 guide tells me to do and now I apparently have:

"The safety/hacks of Priiloader & Bootmii, NeoGamma R8 rc3s backup loader that has 99% compatibility, cIOS249 r17, IOS38, 53 & 55 for newer games and IOS50 to help prevent disc update bricks."

My Wii was originally 3.3e and now 4.1e, bootmii is installed as boot2. I can play burnt games with NeoGamma no problem.

The only games I care about are Megaman 9 and Megaman 10 !!

QUESTIONS:

Is it safe to launch/buy games from the Shop Channel?
Are the Wiiware games .wads regionlocked? (If they are is there a way around that?)
Where can I find a complete guide for everything about Wiiware on a softmodded Wii?
Is triiforce mandatory?
HELP! Problems with Endless Ocean 4.2 update and 4.1

I'm in 4.1. I have install priiloader correctly and have block disc updates with hacks.ini. But when I loaded Endless Ocean 2 (Blue World) the game don't appear, only an update screen.

Question : Am I obligated to disable the '' block updates wii games '' and update to 4.2 or I can stay in 4.1 and load my game?

4.2 Softmod Preloader installed (not working) banner brick, Autoboot? HELP!

First of all I have a 4.2u softmodded wii I used the "Softmod for ANY 4.2 Wii!" . Ok so I have recenetly modded my wii and have been very succesful I've been able to get everything running and working properly and fairly easily too. Until the other day I woke up and turned my wii on and it gave the "system files are corrupted" message BUT I could still boot into priloader, so I wasn't too worried. I started researching online and someone said that I needed to install my system menu so I donwloaded a patched version of ios70 and installed it via wad manager. I rebooted and got some sorta error relating to es_identify verification or something. So I kept looking for a solution and someone said to update my preloader and my hacks.ini so I got the latest version of preloader and got the latest hacks.ini for my system menu and installed them. My es_identity problem was fixed but now I was back where I started. I then read somewhere that I should use nusdownloader to install my system menu and my ios. So i got the system menu v481 and ios70-64-6687 wads and installed them. Soon after I restarted and My preloader would no longer boot and I still had the system files corrupted message. Finally I got my wii to recovery mode where it displays 4.2usa, I've burnt homebrew installer disc and lcud v3 and I patched a wii game with the bootme app to see if I could get it to autoboot and nothing. Those three disk will spin for about a minute and then stop and the 4.2usa is still displayed. BUT if i put an original wii disk in like ssmb,twilight, or tnsmb they will spin up the 4.2usa will dissapear and the disk will continue to spin. But nothing else happens It just sits at the black screen..i've left it that way for hours and nothing has happened. Once when I rebooted it almost most go to the system menu, like it showed the outline of the channels for a split second, and then took me back to system files message. Is there anyway I could repair this without have to get a wiikey? Am I doing something wrong when I burn those disk? (I used the same process I do when I burn GC backups (that work)). SOMEONE PLEEEASEEE HELP thx

I used the trucha bug restorer allot during the modding process, I'm not sure if have the trucha bug or whatever, I have bootmii installed as an ios, I have preloader installed and it just isn't loading and I also installed cioscorp a while ago. I mean since my wii trys to load my original game discs does that mean my autoboot is working? And do I need to wait til 4.3? or is there a way of hacking an iso to make the wii think it is a higher version? I'm burning wad manager iso right now, HOPEFULLY it will boot. I broke down and ordered a wasabi dx last night, but if my wii is already autobooting I feel like I may have wasted my money...I have modded a few others wiis and I really need to fix this, so that I will have the tools to fix theirs if the problem arises. Thanks for your help already.

I just burnt two different copies of wad manager to disk, i got the isos from here Autobooting Wad Manager ISO - GBAtemp.net . And my wii will not read them either, It seems that it wont read the burnt discs. But i could play burnt GC games when it was working, but not through the disc channel. Hmmm, this is confusing.

Well I just figured out what caused the brick...When I downloaded my ios and sys menu from nusdownloader I didn't have a key.bin so it made two bad wads I guess. Hopefully this will help somoene tell me what to do.
Problemas using USB Loader GX + USB Peripheral

I'be just bought a generic USB Drum Kit for playing with the Rock Band games.
But the drums didn't work. I plug it to the USB port on Wii (the red LED turns on, indicating powered on) but any button or pad I press have no response in the game.
I've softmodded my Wii using this tutorial and I'm currently using USB Loader GX to load games from my External HDD.

I was wondering if the mod or the USB Loader hasn't changed something on the USB port's workings.

Does anyone has a solution for the problem?
a "stupid" qustion :)

Download these files: xda-developers

Unzip and add them to the Tools folder of your Android SDK

Plug your Hero in but DO NOT mount your SD card

Open a command prompt on your PC and type the following (press Enter after each line!)

cd\
cd AndroidSDK\Tools\
adb devices

Check to make sure your phones serial number pops up (if not, then redo the ADB setup above)

Then, enter the following commands:

adb push asroot2 /data/local/
adb shell chmod 0755 /data/local/asroot2
adb shell
/data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh

Then, type:

mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cd /system/bin
cat sh > su

Flash a recovery Image (only needed if you want to flash custom roms to your phone)

1) Find a recovery image for your phone (they wont be posted here due to copyright and legal restrictions). MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE!

2) Write down the name of the file EXACTLY as it is written (i.e RA-Hero-Recovery-v1.2.2.img)

3) Put the file on the root of your SD card

4) Download Terminal from the Market if you dont already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market some have an onscreen
keyboard and some dont experiment till you get one, also hold down Menu in some of them to bring up the onscreen keyboard if you dont see it).

5) Open the Terminal Program and type the following:

su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img

(obviously replacing name-of-recovery.img with the one you wrote down earlier)

6) Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.

Can't play backup games after softmodding 4.2E

I've been trying to play backups for the last couple of weeks but with no luck, so I thought I'd make a post, sorry if all of this has been on here before, but I'm a bit lost!

I followed the guide here:

and if I open NeoGamma and it says at the bottom cIOS249rev14, so I assume I've got up to here ok.

But then if I use USB Loader GX and backup games to my harddrive (following the guide using WBFS manager) and they load to it fine, but I keep getting black screen (I've tried New Super Mario Bros, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Sports).

Say for Wii fit Plus I looked at http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-use-run.html it needs IOS53, so using NUS Downloader got the latest wad for IOS53 and installed it, but still no luck.

So I tried looking in this guide as well: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-4-2-wii.html
And followed the step: Step 6 - Install and Patch A Few More IOS
But still just the black screen.

The only thing I can see that is a bit strange is when I load up USB Loader GX it says:
Reloading into IOS 236
IOS 236 not found, reloading into 36
Starting up etc...
Reloading into IOS 249...0
Init WBFS...0
Initialise SD Card.

Is the 0's after IOS249 and WBFS ok? Is there anything else I can try???

Missing pixels when playing from USB

So I modded my friend's Wii using a 4.2 this guide posted on this site. I had successfully modded my 4.1 and didn't have any issues. Everything went smoothly on the 4.2, but when playing some games from the USB drive via WiiFlow, there's some strange missing (black) pixels on the screen that come and go. It's never more than a dozen or so at a time and some games are worse than others. They're not completely random as you can count on seeing them in the same spot at the same time for a given game.

Thinking it might be the hard drive, I tried connecting it to my Wii and it works fine (no missing pixels). I tried a couple of the original game discs, and the same game that experienced this issue when played from the USB drive, works fine when played from the original disc. I'm stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And on a side note, some other games that work fine for me are giving him problems even booting (e.g., wii reboots when he tries to run them). I'm thinking that he might be missing some IOS's. I can't be there to troubleshoot each game, so I was wondering if it would be worth a try to just have him install a handful of IOS's to see if that corrects most of the problems. If so, which ones should I start with?

i found answers elsewhere but i'm leary of excepting wii advice from anywhere but wiihacks
can someone tell me if winrar does same thing as wii scrubber +\- a couple extra features in
wiiscrubber ?

why would i want to remove headers? for compression purposes or compatibility?

Hi all
I'm totally new at modding Wii, I followed the guide by Samethernet found here http://www.wiihacks.com/tutorial-arc...enu-4-2-a.html and it worked perfectly.
However, I had a message (stats about minutes of play in Homebrew Channel) and I'm wondering if that will be communicated to Nintendo. That can be a real big problem because my Wii is registered and I even sent it for repair a couple of months ago so they have all they need to associate me with the console. Should I remove my wi-fi connection from my wii settings to make sure I won't have any problem? Am I paranoiac lol

Boy, did I ever mess up big time, apparently!

Everything was playing fine except for four games that use IOS53-64-v4113. I finally got one of the games working last night (Toy Story Mania) after installing Hermes CIOS r5 (http://www.wiihacks.com/submit-artic...222-223-a.html) and by installing a scrubbed PAL version of the game I got from the internet. The game worked great on all loaders last night. I played several rounds to be sure it did indeed function properly.

This morning, I was still having trouble with another game (CSI- Deadly Intent), so I installed the cIOS53-v5149-v3.5.wad file from the cioscorp package. I did this because it was mentioned as a possible fix at http://www.wiihacks.com/game-playing...-neogamma.html.

Now NONE of the games that require IOS53 will play. They all go to a black screen regardless of the loader I'm using. I used Dop-Ios Mod to go back to the previous version of IOS 53 I had working last night but it didn't help.

Incidentally, I updated my USB Loader GX to the newest version and once I realized it didn't work with Hermes r5 I reinstalled r4.

Hey forum whats up? My name is Joe. I'm good at researching and scouring the net for the good info, weed out the garbled junk. I would say I have a strong base of electronics and I'm extremely knowledgeable when it comes to computers. I like soldreing and fixing junk.

So I've done my homework over 2 weeks and finally softmodded my LU64+ Wii. All is well. Most of the questions I have had led me here to Wiihacks. I gotta say this site is full of answers and has a strong member base. I look forward to sharing my experiences.

USB Loader GX Error Message

I soft modded my wii using the excellent walkthrough on this site for [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]...
Everything SEEMS to be working fine, I have USB Loader GX installed and when I click to run it, the wii goes to a black screen and the following text appears in white:

Reloading into ios 236
IOS 236 not found, reloading into 36
Starting up
Initializing controllers
Initialize USB (wake up)
Reloading 249...0
Init wbfs...0
Initialize SD-card
Initialize usb-devices

There may be another line after this but I can not catch it because it clears too quickly and USB Loader opens up...
The program then seems to work fine, but I am a bit of a perfectionist (obsessive compulsive) and would like to fix the issue.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, as I have not found any posts on this subject.
NeoGamma 1051 error with discs

Hi all,

I'm a beginner to all these Wii hacks, so let me recount my story.

1) Bought a modded Wii two days ago, able to play real games (I borrowed a Wii Sports from the shop)

2) Tried to burn some games which I torrented (burnt as ISOs), but got a Neogamma 1051 error

3) Borrowed some games from a friend who also plays on his chip-modded set. Apparently he uses Softchip loader (although having a hard mod?) and is able to play this game properly.

I'm wondering why I am unable to play these ahem games he passed me on NeoGamma, despite having a hardmod. And also, does someone have a guide on how to install Softchip loader?

Right first thing lo guys first post here and hope you lot can sort my problem as I have heard you guys know your stuff.

I followed this guide and finished it successfully

I didnt bother with the optional Enable System Menu Hacks as it said optional .
Now after all this I would have expected my WAD files to load which about half do and the other half dont. I have tried multiple versions on the same wads files and they are all UK PAL versions which I know work from the sources I had them from. My Wii is hardmodded with the DC2 chip and I am now on 4.2 firmware from which that above guide put me on.
Not that I think it matters as I know its not the wad files but here are the wads I cant get working.
*Super Nintendo Not Working*
Super Gouls n Ghosts, Super Castlevania 4, Super Probotector and R-Type 3
*Nintendo 64 Not Working*
Paper Mario, Starfox64, Super Mario 64, Yoshi story, Zelda Majoras Mask.
Here is the message I get when I try to install any of the above with wad manager
ERROR (ret= -1)

Now I think this message means that wad manager could not find the wad file on the memory card for some reason?.
Like I said the wads are fine and I have tried an alternative memory card also.
What could the problem be any ideas as I have ran out :(

When I boot in priiloader & click on system menu hacks it's not showing my hacks.ini file. I know that it has to be in the root of the sd card. I'm trying to finish my soft mod 3.1 - 4.1 at step 5. Installing hacks.ini
USB Loader GX working without SD Card

I completed messie's tutorial [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] for my wii which was version 4.2U

I have an external USB drive with a 250GB WBFS, a 50GB NTFS, and a 5GB FAT32 partition. After placing all of my games on the HDD with USB Loader GX, I removed the SD Card to prevent my kids from messing with Homebrew Channel stuff and the next time I launched USB Loader GX, I got the Exception (DSI) occurred , core dump message. I put the SD card back in and it worked.

After searching around, here is what I did to remove the dependency of the SD card.
- connect USB drive to my computer
- dump the contents of the SD card onto my external hard drive's FAT32 partition (it wont work on the NTFS partition)
- copy the contents of the SD card to the root directory of the FAT32 partition
- on the FAT32 partition, I also created the following empty directories:
  /wtheme
  /codes
  /txtcodes
  /bca
  /config/theme
- put the SD card and USB drive back on Wii
- Launch USB Loader GX (it is still using the SD card here)
- Click the Settings (gears icon) and then scroll to the 2nd page and click "Custom Paths"
- For each entry that is currently pointing to an SD:/ path, change it to the corresponding USB:/ path
  For example, change '2D Cover Path' from SD:/Images/2D to USB:/Images/2D and so on. The only one I couldnt get to work was converting Theme Download Path from SD:/config/theme to USB:/config/theme so I just placed those in USB:/wtheme instead (USB Loader GX was not recognizing my config/theme directory)
- Once all of the paths have the SD:/ references removed, exit USB Loader GX, remove the SD card, and then launch USB Loader GX again.

Many people post and post and the answers are a search click away. Many mods and advance members are tired of the #002 Error Posts and the "My Game Wont Load - Black Screen"... Please for everyone that is new to the site try something before you post "Search"... This site is linked into the google adwords and googles search function... For Example:

Hi everyone! :)

I have just followed the guide at:

I have a wii version 3.3u and have installed HB as IOS, however, I am unable to get to the menu to backup my NAND. There is no option to boot to Bootmii.

I have stopped until this step, have not proceed with Step 3 because I am using 1.0.5 , IOS35, v4.16 . The guide is for IOS36. There is no selection for IOS36.

Can any experience bros help?

Hi guys,

I have searched and scanned, but haven't found an answer:

How can I run the 4.1 updater when I have no internet conx? Is there a wad or something I can use for this?

I am in the process of fixing the wifi range issue that prevents reception, but for now there is no wifi for Wii.

The second part of my query is, are there any risks if I leave the firmware update out at this point? I have no intention of using the internet from the Wii for now.

Hello new to the site, glad I found it.

but I'm stuck on an Emulator problem..

See, I did '[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]' 4.2 guide and did the backup and everything is good. ( I have a 4.2 system, got the Wii like 4 months after it came out)

I went up to A4 of the tutorial (and did the backup), because I'm just in it to play my Emulators, not really going for Wiigames..

I'm trying to get '[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]' to work, and I have the roms on DVD and on SD but it will not load.

When ever I try to load a Rom, a grey screen comes up and says "an error occurred"

I first started with the roms on SD and the roms wouldn't load, thinking it's the way I placed the files, I made a DVD and it still will not load from the disc (Disc drive spins when I try to load so I guess thats good)

Same thing is happening when I try an load the [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] roms, the program runs fine but when I try to load a Rom i get "error" message...

So I guess what I'm wondering is, did I not go far enough in the tutorial?
I went to the part were:

A4)After that you are ready, you have installed all of the above! now an app can be placed in the apps folder in your SD card and be run by HBC! This has a load of functions: Media players, Emulators, Useful apps and Homebrew games!

How to install Neogamma having Backup launcher already installed

I have a Korean Wii, system menu 3.2, that came with homebrew channel, bootmii and Backup Launcher 0.3 gamma already installed.

I need to know what precisely do I have to do to install Neogamma R8 beta 7. I saw this guide [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], but I don't know if all the procedures are the same on Wii that have some IOS installed already, and I don't wanna brick mine!

based on the guide above, my main doubts is:
- can I just follow the steps in the guide above?
- do I have to install IOS60 even if I don't want to update to 4.1?

I have been working at this a while and I've gotten most everything that I've done to work. Originally I followed a tutorial to do my mods that came with a package that I downloaded from a torrent. After I found Wii hacks, I NEVER do anything that I don't learn from here. Here's what my system has Now:

-Homebrew channel 1.0.3 IOS 61 V19.26
:CIOS 36 R10
:USB Loader
:Wad Manager
-Neogamma R8 Beta 15 Channel (When I start this it tells me that it was written for CIOS Rev 14 (but I don't want to update things that I'm not sure about)
-USB Loader GX Rev. 866c Channel

I don't know if this is everything you need to know, But I'll get you any other info you need.

Here's what I can't get to work.

WII Sports Resort PAL (Getting Green Screen) Tried Force NTSC and 002 Fix
WII SPorts PAL (Getting Rolling Screen) Tried Force NTSC and 002 Fix
All my other games that I've downloaded work with NEOGamma R8 Beta 15.
My kids have destroyed my Disc drive so the only way i have to play games is to download and run from USB.

I've read the tutorials and gotten this far on my own, now I need some advice
-Do I need to update anything else.
-Do I need to add anything else.
-How do I stream video from my Computer to my Wii
-Can I connect my wii back to my home network without my games or my Wii trying to update and Bricking my system.
-Can I play games such as MarioKart Wii online safely.

I know this is a lot, but if one of you guys who are my heros that are experts at this keep me on the right track and give me some Advice.

Thanks to all of you at Wii hacks who are taking the time to make my kids and I Wii fanatics as much as I was a metroid and Mario Fanatic when I was a Kid.

Hello. In hopes of understanding the hack jargon I am becoming a member of wiihacks. I had someone set me up with a sd card making my wii complete w/homebrew channel and gamma for games. Worked great, then he moved away leaving me with no way to update. He tried giving me steps to do over the phone only to have my wii now frozen at the boot.mii menu and i am totally stuck. Abandoned and alone. I figure I cannot mess it up anymore than it already is since i'm not able to use it anyway but hopefully someone will read this, show pity, and come to my rescue.

I am a experienced computer user/developer/etc. (been using them since the zx spectrum), but the wii is my first console. I just got a black one, with the sports resort pack. Unfortunately, the menus are 4.2e and the dvd probably is one of the new ones that only read DVD-ROM.

I plan trying the 4.2 hacks as soon as the kids give me some time with the console, but for now no chance... :)

Triiforce problems need USB help

ok so im trying to install triiforce and a bunch of wiiware/VC. Heres what ive done so far.
Im following this guide [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register].
Having trouble cause guide was meant for SD card and not USB.

Ive completed:
-NAND dump/folders
-installed triforce/fowarder
-used showmiiwads to transfer wads to nand

Now i think the next step is to install the nand with Wadmanger but whenever i try it say error-1

Problem im having:
-not sure how to organize all the file in my external hard drive like the nand file,triiforce
-can i use SD card for Triiforce and USB for the games?
-when i go into triiforce it say error then exits.

Hey!
Kinda new to the whole wii scene, but so far i am loving everything this site has taught me. Got my girlfriend a wii for christmas and I thought I'd look into hacking it. I eventually found the tutorial on this site and got up and running loading games off of usb drives. so far all of the games i have gotten work great through the usb. i love the fact that the usb loader gx software can download covers. I'm in the process of trying to set up a permanent external hdd to be used by the wii. Wish me luck!!

Triiforce - FFIV: After Years DLC problems

I have Triiforce all set and ready to go. I'm on system menu 4.0U. I'm using a NAND dump culled from SimpleFS Dumper and following [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] I tried the method from [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], but it didn't work as well. I've been using Wad2nand to get downloaded wads on my dump, and they've all been working fine. My problem is Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.

I had already purchased the game and some DLC through the Shop Channel, back before I discovered the wonderful world of Wii hacks. I want to remove my legit DLC wad and replace it with one where all stories are unlocked. I'm lost on how to do this. I also want to keep my saves, if possible. I don't know if the 'content purchased' is somehow tied in with the saves or not. If I can't keep them, I'll do without.

Methods I've used:
1- Wad2nand with downloaded FFIV wads(main game and dlc), finding the matching files on my SimpleFS dump, deleting and replacing them. Result - Still only DLC I've bought.

2- Extract FFIV saves via SaveGameExtractor, view them, delete corresponding files on my NAND dump, in addition to wad replacing listed above. Result - Triiforce doesn't even register FFIV as a game.

3- Loaded up ShowMiiWads, but it doesn't recognize my SimpleFS dump (bootmii dump works fine, but not with Triiforce.)

4- Downloaded NAND dump listed in [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], installed the wads, but Triiforce freezes when loading.

Any help is greatly appreciated. You guys are awesome.

hi. i'm modding wii using messie's 4.2 guide. i've installed program but there's a problem. for some reason it doesn't allow me to system menu hacks. the main page loads and when i go to system menu hacks the page goes white as though it's about to load and then comes back to the main priiloader screen without doing anything. can someone help me please:(:(:(.

i've cut and pasted the part i'm stuck on. thanks. awiimad

D7)Installation of priiloader. After you install ios70patched, you are able to install priiloader.
-Find the only app in HBC that does not have an icon, yet says apps\priiloader\boot.dol, and load it.
-Read the instructions, and hold down B, and press + to use ios249
-Once it is done, reset your wii and it will take you to Priiloader menu
-From there, go to Hacks and check the ones you want. Block disc update and Region free ones are recommended. you can check what the others do here
-After you are done, go to the Settings and change autoboot to System menu.
-Reset the wii. You are done!
If you ever banner brick your Wii (God forbid) you can access priiloader menu by holding down reset button while booting the Wii, then access HBC to undo the brick (yeah i know it rocks). After that you can install all the Wiiware/VC/channel wads you wish, without bricking fear.

Today as i turn on my Wii it worked normally until i started Neogamma r8 and then the screen went black, now as i start my wii it only displays black screen and nothing else. But i can still hear the sound.

I used [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] to soft mod my Wii. I also tried wii on other TV but it didn't work. I'm using the Wii AV cable with SCART attachment. Wii is a Pal version.

Followed the linked tutorial on Priiloader to a T. Installed "IOS70-64-v6687 [Patched][FreeTheBug].wad" with wadmanager and then tried to install priiloader

When I hit the + to start the install, I get this error.

Hello All,

I am very happy to stumble across this website as it successfully assisted me in modding the Wii (I) errrr Santa bought my 8 year old daughter for Christmas.

I used the 4.2U walkthrough and must say it couldn't have been easier, big props to the author ;)

I am far from a noob to the hacking area, I was running an original xbox with XBMC for a long time but it is nice to be able to play some modern games now.

I look forward to figuring out this bloody thing, it may cost me some hair but I think it will be worth it. As it stands right now my current questions will be how to add the games i DL'd from HBB onto a Wii Channel or if it's possible (I haven't searched the forums yet) and a few questions on what PAL games will be compatible on my NTSC box.

I'm sure I wil figure it out and look forward to the help I am sure this community will offer.

p.s. I am a member of of Demonoid if anybody "needs" and invite, or if you can reccomend a better site for backup games ;)

I reached the final step, but I accidently installed priiloader without doing this

Warning - If you don't install the patched IOS60 first you will brick!

This step is optional unless you are on 3.1, 3.3 or 3.4 in which case you must update, if you are on 3.2 or 4.0 you can update if you want and it is recommended that you do, if you are on 4.1 there is no need obviously! If you are on 3.1 you will have to update to 4.0 first, make sure you install the patched IOS60 first though still. Before you update to 4.1 make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick, install IOS60-patched first with Wad Manager using IOS249, then run Firmware Updater 4.1. If you are on 3.3 or 3.4 then you must update now - DO NOT install priiloader until you have updated as it will cause untold problems!.

I'm so scared, because of the untol problems and whenever I start my wii, i see alot of numbers and stuff...

New guy here : Question about WiiFlow and Homebrew channel

First off, I opened my Wii like 3 hours ago and when I finally made the wireless worked, I upgraded to 4.2u

Ok first off from what I read, to use/install WiiFlow, I need the homebrew channel. Now I will try to look for a thread on WiiHacks which explains how to do this for 4.2u I know that I can use Bannerbomb v2 to install Homebrew. There is a guide here on how to install Bannerbomb here [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] Is this guide ok? Do I really need Bannerbomb to install Homebrew Channel and is there a way I can brick my Wii doing it? (I will still do it, just want to know if there are any failsafe thing I can do before installing stuff).

Second thing, I will recieve my 320 gb wd essensial HD monday which I will all format to the required format (don't remember it). Now I have a 8 gb micro SDHC card and with 4.2, the will can detect it. I think that I will have to install WiiFlow on my SD card. Can my card be an SDHC card or does it have to be an SD card even if I have 4.2?

The boot.dol in the root, copy it to the apps folder in a folder of it's own just quickly...
open the homebrew channel and load the hackmii installer you just copied to the apps folder.
install bootmii as boot2...
restart your wii and use a gamecube controller to select Backup.
go and have a coffee and a chill while it backs up... then copy the folder "Bootmii" and the file "NAND.bin". to your pc in a folder called something like... "Brick Protection", and delete them off the SD Card
Start the Homebrew Channel and Run DOP-IOS MOD. Press A to continue to the next screen. Go down once and select "Install an IOS that accepts fakesigning" and press A to continue.
Leave the next option at IOS36 but press B.
Choose Downgrade "IOS15"
Choose Download IOS from NUS
When that has finished Change the IOS to 15 and press A, NOT B!
Now go in the IOS36 menu and leave the top option to 36 but change all the other things to YES
when you've done this go to Install Patched IOS and Press A. and download from NUS again.
When that has finished Choose IOS36 and press A.
This time restore IOS15, and download from NUS.(just choose this in the future lol)
when thats all done restart your wii.
load up DOP-IOS MOD again and change the IOS to 36 and press A whilst the cursor is on the first option.
go to remove Stub IOSs. Allow the App to remove the Stub IOSs by pressing A (you might have to do this by selecting the Stub IOSs Individually).
back in the DOP-IOS menu, choose IOSs.
Go right until you see IOS70 and press A th install v6687 of this IOS.
press A to continue.
Say yes to sign Hash check (press A).
when done press A then B Then HOME to Quit.

What did I just do?

Brick proofed your Wii
Restored the Trucha Bug
Removed all the Stub IOSs from 4.2
Patched IOS36

The next few steps are a lot easier and simpler but have a Sudoku at the ready for when these are installing.

First up cIOS38_rev16

Installed Waninkoko's custom IOS used for booting Games on Non-Nintendo Media (shall we say...)

Next Hermes cIOS 222 & 223

Remove all GameCube memory cards and controllers. * This step is very important. Do not ignore it .

Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer
Read the warning message and push A
Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS37 merged with IOS38
Wait for download and installation to complete
Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer again
This time select Custom IOS 223 and select IOS60 merged with IOS38
DONE

All you need to do now is follow a tutorial on the wii flow website on how to install it as a channel
HINT: WAD-Manager 1.1

i had a softmod 3.2u which was originally done with twilight hack.
cioscorp is installed and was updated enough to play NSMB from drive and dvd.
a friend wanted to show me somthing online with it, i left the room for 2 mins.
returned to see my wii being updated by nintendo to system 4.2u.
obviously hbc is gone. but ciox corp and wads that were installed work.
but almsost everything else fails.
boot mii
preloader
wad manager
all the bannerbomb hacks for 4.2
everything fails or freezes.

what is the best course of action to get back to a place that this thing wont brick. and i can have the hbc back. and not have everything crash. any help is greatly appreciated. ive done about 5 4.2 hack guides and the all dont work.

Unable to patch IOS36 - Help needed!

My Wii has system menu 4.0U and has HBC installed. I am following the thread [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] to softmod. Everything works fine till step 3.a. In 3.b when using TBR to patch IOS36, after selecting 'YES' for all 3 patches, Wii does not respond to buttons A or 1. It wont proceed to next step asking to use SD card or network. TBR is not hung or Wii DOES NOT crash at this point. It still responds to Dpad to toggle yes or no for the patches and B button to cancel TBR and go back to HBC. Only buttons A or 1 doesnt see to respond to proceed with the patch. I have tried

- turning off Wii and restarting from TBR to patch IOS36
- turning off Wii and restarting from downgrade IOS15 again and then patch IOS36
- downgrade IOS15 multiplte times before trying to patch IOS36 etc

None of these worked. Downgrade to IOS15 ver 257 is ALWAYS SUCCESSFUL.

Since Wii is not crashing and TBR is still responding to Dpad, I wonder i am doing something wrong. But cant figure it out. Please help!!

I am using a Easystore 8 GB SDHC card and it has always worked well for loading apps, taking NAND backup etc

Hello need a little help here
I followed the " 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii " guide
the Wii runs fine with gamma most game except for some issues with some rock band games not reading the guitars/drums just mics and tony halk ride wont connect the controller.
this is the problem i want to fix.

when i boot my wii holding power+reset to open menu to select system menu hacks nothing is found.
I assume i need to update to get this to work I have tryed to run system update to 4.1 firmware before but nothing happens it just sits at the loading screen.

Is there anything else i can use to turn off updates? If not what steps do i need to take to finish off step 5 in
3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii
so i have priiloader to load these for me.
also what do i need to get the guitar and drums working for rockband?
tony halk ride is fixed by turning off system updates in the system hacks so i am set there just need to get it working.

I am no pro at this I do understand these guides to a point so if you could lay out a nice step by step any n00b could follow it would be great thanks guys.

Is the hacks.ini file the only file necessary to put on the SD card in order to update it after I loaded priiloader already?

Or

Are there any other files I must include on the SD card when I use the SD card for the first time?

My prior install with an SDHC card enabled me to get as far as the Priiloader install without a problem.

Wii Freezes Up When Going to SD Card Menu

Hello all,

I've had Homebrew installed for a long time, but just recently got the Neo backup launcher to work to play backups of my games. Here's the rundown,

Everything was working fine when I was at 4.1. Then, I updated to 4.2U. Everything worked fine except the backup launcher. I reinstalled the IOS38 and followed this tutorial to get the backup launcher working again:

So now the backup launcher is working great. Then, I put Priiloader on my wii because Bootmii wasn't working anymore (when trying to get to it from the HBC menu).

So that's where I'm at. Everything seems to be working except Bootmii (which is ok since Priiloader is working fine).

However, when I try to go to the SD card menu from the Wii's System Menu, it loads about 8 "icons" then just completely freezes up and nothing works except to hold down the power button to turn off the Wii.

Any suggestions are much appreciated :)

First...thanks to all who replied to my earlier priiloader question. If..use of my SDHC card IS the problem, then I will "borrow" an SD card out of my camera.

Question

Do I have to maintain the hacks.ini file in the wii? OR...can I use the SD card, load the hacks.ini file for priiloader, then return the SD card to the camera and continue using my SDHC card? :(

I got my wii and before i did my research i upgraded the menu system to 4.2u.

I then dove into this wonderful site in hopes of getting my wii to play a dvd.

Home brew dvdx and bootmii installed with no problem

But whenever i tried to load mplayer it would load unendingly.

Figuring i messed up instilation i followed the steps in this guide:

I got an error 1017 and followed the links to instructions on how to fix.

On step 2 i got a black screen that would not end and now the wii is bricked.

No response when i hit the power button i do not even get the red light when i plug it in.

So i ask the forum, is there anything i can do?
Rockband 2 DLC General Help...Please

Prior to asking my question, I would like to thank all those who reply!
I always get perfect advice and definitely appreciate it!

So I have downloaded 85 songs for Rockband 2 using the .wad hacks found on this site. Now... everytime I play them, a few things happen that make me angry about the whole deal. So, it seems that everytime I play multiple songs, the sutosave saves them to the wii memory and then autosave shuts off and ultimately my wii system is full. I go in and delete the DLC files on the wii memory because they are on the SD card. Then I go back into the game and although I still have a rockband 2 save on the system memory, I have to set it up as new and then none of my songs appear so I have to go to the music store delete and redownload a song so that they all are listed again.

So... the short question to the long preface is... is there a way for me to bypass all the above so that i can keep my save information and just play the damn songs I want without going through all this headache to do it? Is there something in the the options that will accomplish this that I am missing?

Again... thanks for your time and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have my Wii on firmware 4.0E with usb loader,neo gammer,etc etc.
However i have only just loaded priiloader V0.2 although all the hacks i have done have been on there for a while. I beleive that in the past i have done a nand backup my question is "is there a way to check if i have a nand backup" or is there a way to backup the nand now?

Hello all,

My first post on wiihacks and thought I would say a big thank you to everyones work that goes in to this site.

I am a wii hack noooooooob and chipped my wii as soon as the warranty expired. It worked nicely playing my backed up games. Then it would play newer ones without updating my system. I came here and followed an excellent tutorial on a softmod.

I now run a softmoded wii, HBC, USB Loader GX, USB Loader to make backups and Mplayers for my avi's.

Hi wiihacks members,
I bought a wii a week ago, with softmod with system menu v4.0u and it uses neogamma R8 b3 to run backup disc's.

I read this article on how to update the wii softmod to 4.1, and i don't know where to start from in that topic because my wii is already on 4.0 and it's softmod. Should i only install the 4.1u from the firmware updater or should do other steps before doing that.

all i did on my wii is to install cIOS38 rev15 and my games run better now.
just wanted to know about the steps of ios60 patch, priiloader, ect...

thanks for everything and sorry if my thread is confusing.

hi guys this is my first question on wii hacks. i just wanted to ask that i have a 4.2U softmodded wii, and i have USBloader GX and the latest neogamma. i like using usb loader, and it detects my HD perfectly, although it wont detect my call of duty world at war. neogamma is able to detect it, and play it perfectly, but i want to know why usb loader cant detect it.usb loader detects my other games but not this one thanks for the help, and happy new year!!:D

At the very beginning I download the file and extract it to a formatted SD card. I have tried this a few times and always receive this error.

Hi, I modded my wii with Dogeggs guide seen here: [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

I am having problems launching the new Resident Evil game from my external HD.

My wii is on 4.1 and the only thing that differs on mine from what is on the guide is the Trucha Bug Restorer version I used. I used v1.1 as 1.0 would encounter an error for me.

These are the .wad files I used with the TBR as instructed:

I have played 8 other games that all work fine, no crashes or anything. I have tried RE using multiple loaders and they all crash the wii when I try to run it. Do I need to install more IOS's? I've searched around and seen that other games have this problem but I haven't seen anything specific for this game. Any ideas?

Okay well I need help restoring the Homebrew Channel on my 4.0U Wii. I installed IOS36 and this caused my apps to go to a black screen. So then I formatted the Wii through System Settings. I tried reinstalling homebrew channel using the tutorial here on Wiihacks. I go to Data Management>Channels>Sd card I load the boot.elf, and it goes to a black screen, where it should have gone to

I got to part D3)Now:
-For DVD launching, go to NeoGamma r7 (if you get a black screen on this one, you have not done B or C correctly. Try running them again)
-For USB launching, go to USB loader GX

When I load neogamma r7 it loads perfectly, no black screen etc. When I try to launch game it will only work if the game is a legit game. It won't work with backups (I've tried multiple backups). What may be my problem?

Hello everyone!

Just got a Wii for Christmas and am new to the modding community.

Based on my hardware/software, I imagine that I will not be able to use backup DVD-R discs. I have downloaded the files and am all ready to follow[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] to hack my Wii, but now I want to know if I should even bother.

I won't beat around the bush. I want to play games that I have "backed up". I was hoping to just burn the files I "backed up" to a DVD-R and play them. However, my S/N is in the red zone for the D3-2 chip.

Should I just buy an external USB drive and continue on that route? Didn't really want to invest any more in this project than I already have....

I have installed twilight hacks on my wii. I hade no problems there. I tried to play the new super mario game but i got some error. I read on some site that i could install NeoGammaR7HBC and the game would work. After the instalation i've pressed the home button and the wii restarted.
Now to my problem when I start my wii i see the firts screen and I hear som music when I press A. I hear som "pling" and everything goes black.

Do I realy have too just throw away my wii?

Has anyone hacked the photo channel for USB support? I've been searching for a couple of days now and I can't seem to find any sort of USB/Photo compatability programs. I find it hard to believe that with so many media players out there with USB video support that there is no Photo support.

Any ideas or anyone interested in developing it further?

I followed this tut to the T. i have currently install 4.1E. Im trying to load from dvd disk.

If i load throgh neo gammer i get a green screen appear and then go back to channel screen. But i still see the game in the WII disk channel (picture and sound) but if i click start there i get a black screen with error eject disk and turn off the wii and back on.

Any ideas what this could be ??
